Brookdale Healthcare Services is looking for a Hospice Chaplain to provide services in the San Antonio area. Join a dynamic team of health care providers focused on support and comfort for all our patients.

Your responsibilities:

  • Assure spiritual assessment of patients and families/caregivers in the hospice program and appropriate services are rendered in a timely manner

  • Provide direct spiritual care to patients and families/caregivers

  • Serve as liaison and support to community chaplains and spiritual counselors

  • Document direct services and ongoing communication with community chaplains and spiritual counselors

  • Recruit community chaplains, spiritual counselors, and spiritual care volunteers to meet patient and family/caregiver needs by developing community contacts and offering education through congregations about hospice care

  • Provide for funeral or memorial services for patients as requested

Required skills and qualifications:

  • Graduate of accredited seminary or school of theology (BD, M.Div. or equivalent theological degree), licensed ordained minister or equivalent experience

  • Experience working with death and dying, individuals/family/caregiver

  • Ability to accept different lifestyles, cultures, beliefs and values

  • Knowledge of and commitment to hospice philosophy of care; hospice experience preferred
